Skye and Kris (and their dog, Eddie!) are awesome!  The love between them is so evident, and that, combined with one of our favorite locations and truly incredible light, made for some amazing engagement images.

A couple of weeks ago we traveled down to Encinitas and had a wonderful day with Heather and Josh and their family and friends at the Quail Botanical Gardens.  Heather and Josh put a lot of hard work into making their day very personal, which makes such a big difference in how a wedding day feels.

A couple of notes about this wedding:  Coordination was done by Kasey Shephard, wedding party flowers were by Michael's Flower Girl, and Heather's amazing bouquet was by Paula Rae of Rae Florae.

As part of their ceremony, Heather and Josh invited anyone who wanted to come up and say a few words to do so.  Here are Josh's sisters welcoming Heather into the family.

A little peek at some of the details. We especially loved the ring bowl by Paloma's Nest and the book of family recipes that was given to the guests as a wedding favor.  Many of the details you see here were created by Heather and Josh or their family members.

Heather and Josh had their favorite musician, Bart Davenport, and his band come in from San Francisco to play at the reception.  How incredible is that?!

We had so much fun wandering around downtown Los Angeles last Friday with Melis and Volkan!  They were complete naturals in front of the lens, and are so sweet with each other that our job was very easy.  We can't wait for their wedding next month in Malibu.

The Standard is a special place for Volkan and Melis, so even though we weren't allowed to shoot inside, we had to grab one outside.

Last spring, we got a note from Serena, one of our favorite former brides, that she and Marshall were expecting their first baby in the summer.  Serena wanted some pre-baby pictures done, and we were thrilled that we'd get to see her and Marshall again.  Well, due to various different things coming up (life gets busy when you're about to have a baby!), we weren't able to do a shoot with them until a couple weeks ago, and now their little guy is several months old!  Time flies! 

Here are Serena and Marshall on their lovely, intimate wedding day in October of 2006.

Serena and Marshall, it was so good to see you again and finally meet little Marshall!  The three of you make a wonderful family.

We've got loads of good stuff to post this week and next (Heather and Josh's beautiful wedding, a family session with one of our favorite former couples, and some really romantic engagement sessions), but I thought we'd kick off the week with these moss initials from Simple Sweet Designs.  Oh, how we'd love to photograph a wedding on a pretty farm with the couple's initials hanging on a red barn door!
